Study English in Malaysia: Requirements for International Students (2026)
Who can study English in Malaysia, what documents you need, age and passport rules, EMGS requirements and how the student pass works — the complete checklist.
The basic requirements
You need a passport valid 18+ months, a course offer from a registered institution, and a clean immigration record. There is no upper age limit, and no IELTS/TOEFL is needed to study English (that's the point of the course!).
Visa sponsorship note
At ACE, student pass sponsorship is available only with the Intensive English Programme (AIEP) — and the pass covers the enrolled student only; dependent/guardian visas are not issued.
Documents you'll upload
Passport (all pages), white-background photo 45×35mm, high school certificate and transcripts, and the EMGS health declaration. Our AIEP application form collects everything online in 10 minutes.
Timeline and fees
EMGS approval takes 4–6 weeks. Budget the course fee, one-time registration (RM 300), materials (RM 900 per 6 months) and a refundable personal bond that varies by nationality.
