IELTS vs PTE vs TOEFL: Which English Test Should You Take?

How the tests differ

IELTS mixes paper/computer format with a human speaking examiner. PTE is fully computer-scored. TOEFL iBT is computer-based with academic, integrated tasks. Nervous speakers often prefer PTE; those who like human interaction prefer IELTS.

Where each is accepted

IELTS: UK, Australia, Canada, Malaysia and more. TOEFL: especially strong for US universities. PTE: fast results (48 hours) accepted across Australia, UK, NZ and Malaysia. Always check your target university's list first.

Costs in Malaysia

Exam fees run RM 850–950 (PTE/IELTS) and similar for TOEFL. Preparation at ACE costs RM 2,850/month for any of the three (Mon–Fri, 9 AM–1 PM), with weekly mocks and AI scoring tools.
